Seamer Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Injury Worries.
'Major setback' for the English camp as Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.
Gus Atkinson added to the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the ground on the second morning in the Melbourne Test against Australia.
The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his hamstring post-delivery in his spell during the morning session.
Team management indicated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and was to take time away from the action to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".
The final Test in this Ashes battle in Sydney starts this coming Sunday.
England have already lost fast bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.
A replacement bowler was added to the party as injury reinforcement.
Atkinson struggled early in the series, managing only three wickets.
He was left out of the third Test, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.
Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets during the host's first knock, then making 28 while batting among just a trio of English batsmen to get into double digits.
Post a single over late on the first day, he came back the next day and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.
Yet, on the final ball of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to the batsman and suddenly grabbed at his leg.
Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match having missed the Adelaide game.
