Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
